It's kinda like...

Helpful analogies on the effects of the 100 plus compounds in cannabis and their interactions.

I have always found myself to be good at breaking down difficult subjects with analogies, cannabis is no different. With a lot of us still unsure of what is happening within the system of the plant, we tend to look for the simple answer to a complex question.

It is human nature to want to associate a lot of greatness to one factor. Praise a single quality, our need to have credit to one contributor, to raise a king, crown a champion, praise the engine of a car.

“What has the highest THC percentage?”

It is interesting that in the cannabis industry, THC is treated no differently. The cannabis industry has claimed THC the champion and have it held on a wonderful pedestal. THC is the most psychoactive property of the plant, this doesn’t mean the other portions are all non-psychoactive or ineffective. It is just not as psychoactive as THC alone.

THC does have properties that we do find beneficial

  • Pain

  • Muscle Spasticity

  • Glaucoma

  • Insomnia

  • Stimulate appetite

  • Nausea

  • Anxiety

Some in the industry would have you believe the other cannabinoids are useless or have nothing important to add to the plant's effects. This could not be further from the truth, in fact as nature works in systems and cycles, fields that are constantly affecting each other, the cannabis plant is no different. The human body is a perfect example of these systems at work, from our cardiovascular system works in conjunction with our respiratory along with the other systems of the body, like the muscular and nervous system to name a few.

The Race

The industry has named THC the winner of the race before the race was fully run. THC will most likely win as the most psychoactive portion of the cannabis plant, yet we do not know much about the other vehicles on the track, one would think it's worth investigating. With many more cannabinoids being discovered all the time, it is hard to keep up on specific effects. Hence we have names for a handful of cannabinoids yet no info on 100+ that we know exist. The more cannabis is normalized and studied, we will hopefully learn more about this.

It can be argued the greatest victim in the war on drugs wasn’t just us humans it was also these plants. They lost their culture and their identity being grown in secret or being discovered and destroyed by countless misinformed agencies and agents.

To be honest, the scientific testing we have today, although not complete is much further along than we were in 1785 when this distinction was made. Ideally, we could have tested these “Indica” and “Sativa” with the science of today, we would be able to see what is a combination of cannabinoids and terpenes could be attributed to these effects. We did not, and we are paying the price.

We are currently wading through the water, a flood of misinformation where so much has been spread and we are trying to learn our way out of false theories that were presented as facts. It doesn’t help that the science of this plant is at about 20% of what it could be. Some testing facilities and the marijuana industry treat that 20% as if it were 100% of the facts. In reality, if our doctors were operating with 20% of the science of the human body, they would still be prescribing leeches.

Robin Hood and his Merry Men.

So in a sense, THC is a lot like Robin Hood. He is very much sought after, he carries the legend of doing good for the poor, but with today’s mindset, all of his merry men were useless and had no hand in the helping of the needy, or Robin Hood. The fact is, the merry men are emboldened and inspired by Robin Hood to act at a higher level then they could on their own. The same is to be said about the legendary Robin Hood he did not do it on his own, he, in fact, had help. The terpenes and other cannabinoids could be seen as the merry men.

The Orchestra

THC could also be considered one instrument in a large orchestra. Wouldn’t it be an odd symphony if it was just comprised of only violins? A beautiful orchestra is made up of a wide variety of instruments and members which can affect the tone and feel. It is only when those instruments are playing together do we receive that Symphony. The human body is the venue, sometimes the band is amazing, others could use a more instruments or more chairs. The music that is made from the combination of all those instruments could be referred to as the entourage effect. The entourage effect can be linked to the feelings you get from your cannabis. The next time you are appreciating the way you feel from your medicine, know its the band and their instruments strumming to the same music on the amazing venue called the human body. sometimes your venue will appreciate the tunes other times it may not be as enjoyable.

Car Talk

Imagine now that THC is the Key to the car, CBD could be the air conditioning but without the rest of the car, we are not traveling very far. The same is to be said about removing the THC, what good is a car without the key to activate it and go. It's that kind system we are talking about that is so pivotal to the health of our bodies. Also very important for our performance on the road.

The human body is very similar our organs rely on other pieces of the system and when one is compromised the whole system is in jeopardy. Some patients take Myrso as a maintenance dose similar to getting a routine oil change to ensure prime function, more or less helping to keep our car on the road and getting us around.

Nursery Rhyme

The tale of Humpty Dumpty and his fall is famous and the methods used to try to help the poor guy. How “all the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty back together again” as we look back on this tale, Humpty needed all the kings' horses and all the kings' men in an attempt to put Humpty together again. They didn’t just send one horse. Some companies would have you think THC is all you need and it very well could be. Some of us dealing with chronic ailments rely on a lot more help than just one constituent, what is desired is all the help one can get. Cannabis is not only all the king’s horses and men, but it also has help from surrounding kingdoms

No matter how you look at it there are complex forces at work here, as humans we have a system inside of us that accepts cannabinoids turning them into relief and therapy for countless afflictions.
